Ruaha National Park

Location: Tanzania

Known for its diverse landscapes of savannah, mighty baobab trees, rocky hills and the Great Ruaha River itself; Ruaha is home to an incredible diversity of wildlife, including some of the largest populations of Elephant, Wild Dog and Lion left anywhere in Africa.

Despite one of the largest National Parks in Africa, Ruaha is a little known and offers a unique wilderness experience - well off the beaten track - unlike further north in the country. This is a place is for the adventurous soul, who wants the freedom of being alone with a vast, untouched area of natural beauty.

When to go:

In terms of game-viewing, Ruaha is a classic ‘dry season’ park, with game viewing best from July through to October when the large herds of animal’s flock towards remaining water sources. Outside of this time, dispersal of game and dense woodland make game viewing difficult.
