Amboseli
Possibly one of the most iconic National Parks in the world, with its grassy plains accompanied by the towering Mount Kilamanjaro in the backdrop, Amboseli is a firm favourite on anyone’s safari to Kenya. Consisting of sweeping grasslands with scattered acacia trees - aside from its unique location in the shadow Africa’s most famous mountain – Amboseli is renowned for it’s Elephants which can provide spectacularly close views and encounters.
Aside from Elephants, Amboseli is also home to a healthy population of Lion, Leopard, Cheetah and Buffalo as well as commoner plains game. For obvious reasons, the area is a favourite for photographers – and the target is to capture the local wildlife on the grassy plains with the iconic Kilamanjaro in the background.
When to go:
Generally, the best game viewing is between June to October in the drier months when game is more concentrated around more permanent water sources.
